This is a lovely embossed design on the card. All the flowers are embossed to give them depth and texture. I just found it lovely and imagine it cost more than regular cards at the turn the of the century so I expect the Leo was trying to impress Freedy on her birthday. (more…)
Okay this was a memorable day. This day, Aaron learned to drink through a straw. It was a big step forward for us given his ear infections. As recommended we weaned him off bottles early and to sippy cups. The next big step was mastering straws. This is THE day he mastered it! Being Aaron he added his own flare by going “AHH!” after every drink. LOL!
Jennifer Street wasn’t the first house I ever lived in, that one was was somewhere in Chattanooga Mom and Dad can tell you where. But Jennifer Street was the first house whose address I memorized. It’s the first house I have many memories of playing and living in. It is what I think of as my childhood home. We moved from there when I was in fourth grade. The next house I think of as my middle school years. This is a photo of it recently. What got me the most was how small it looked. I guess Thomas Wolf knew what he was talking about when he said you can’t go home. Things of your past don’t just sit there waiting for you to come back they go on changing too just like you. These brave service members leave behind their families for months at a time with very little communication. They return without the parades and parties ships or local National Guard get. So remember the Silent Service as well. I was asked what did I want as spouse back when Mike shipped out. I’ve thought about that for sometime. I find it hard to unpack all of that but I did come up with a few things. (more…)
I don’t think they do this any more. I know Aaron never had to make one, but then again he may have opted not to. It was something that was a chronic source of personal disappointment for me when I was in school. The making of a Valentine’s Day box. You see back then we had a Valentine’s Day party at school. You made a box to put on your desk during the party for friends to drop Valentine cards into. Later grades 3rd and 4th I think, there was a contest for favorite box. I read this as best box, prettiest box, most popular box. I so wanted this honor. I never achieved it, never came close.
Yes, yes that’s me with an awful perm. I saw a prompt on the internet to share a hairstyle regret. I thought that would be a great Memoir Monday. So while I have many hair regrets this one is my biggest. No, no that wasn’t a bad hair day – it was always like that. What was I thinking? (more…)
