In the years past I have worked in real estate offices.  I even held a realtor’s license just to make it easier in dealing with customers.  I never listed or sold housed just managed the office section of it. So I know the first rule of house hunting is not to fall in love with a particular house. (more…)

  • Living Immaculately

    Kenosha house for sale cropped

So as you know our house is on the market. This means we must be ready to show it at a moment’s notice. This means I must live with Molly Dog in a showcase. Never any fun. To keep the house as clean as an Ikea set isn’t easy if you want to live, make jewelry or cook. At least this time it’s only me.

Today I am packing to go down to Tennessee see the area that will be our new home and hunt for a house to make a home. (Psst did you know many languages can’t differentiate between the two? Thanks English) Mike has found a place much closer to his work. It is half the cost a month, newly renovated, has cell phone coverage, and allows Molly. Only drawback is – it’s unfurnished. So we will be camping in it until this house sells or that house closes. Until then this house shall sit immaculately staged with our worldly goods. (more…)

  • Mellowing Molly Dog

    Molly

This is Molly Dog. She is still very puppy but the vet warned us it would be so for at least 2 years. Now don’t get me wrong she is smart and learning but well she gets excited. “Easily stimulated” was the nice phrase her dog sitter uses. But when she gets in that state she doesn’t listen. She’d just all bouncy as her breed is prone to be (think of foxhounds baying and jumping fences in excited pursuit of the fox and you’ve got it). Now we are facing a long drive to our new home I didn’t relish the idea of a bouncy hound in the seat next to me in a loaded SUV going down the interstate. I am sure you can imagine why once you visualize a fox chase in the passenger seat while barreling down the road at 70 mph. (more…)

  • The Reason for the Long Silence – We Are Moving

Yes we are moving out of Wisconsin. Not to the sea as of yet but south to a small town between Nashville, Tennessee and Florence, Alabama on the Tennessee side. It’s a small town called Lawrenceburg (population 10,500ish) It’s been hectic getting things in order to move but now is the lull before the next push. (more…)

As I write this in February we’ve had a very mild winter by Wisconsin standards.  Right now it’s rain and sleet mix out there, or sludging making an Icee like slurry on the ground that’s salt and petrol flavored I’d be guessing.  For February in Wisconsin, that’s practically Spring-like.  However I shall always judge the season by Charleston’s St. Patty’s day.  Here’s why I think that’s the best weather ever. • Throwback Thursday – In My Easter Bonnet

    Bright, Mary Louise Easter hat

Mom tells me all the frills upon it were tissue paper… she made this for me. Oh well I loved it and still love the photos from it…. I mean it’s the only Easter bonnet I think I had.

  • Friday Findings – Travel

    Flying into New Orleans
    Flying into New Orleans

This is the temporary suspension of Fictional Fridays for now. I’m not ready to share what I’m working on right now with anyone. So instead Fridays for this month will be about my travels on my cruise recently. Then in April, I’ll highlight a few true but strange tales from the world that intrigue me. Then when we get to May I’ll decide if I’m ready to dig about in old writing for Fictional Friday return or move on to something else. (more…)
