Monday Marginalia – Season’s Greetings from 1933

From my postcard collection here’s a Holiday card from 1933. The interior and envelope are below.

This wasn’t a very personal card as it didn’t have a personal message nor was it actually signed.  I have no idea why it was kept for so long.  A bit of research told me that Thomas W. Chadwell was a politician in Nashville, TN in 1872 he was elected Land Commissioner there.

It was sent to Mr. Northern who was a minister was the recepient of all the letters in the bundle I purchased.  I’m guessing Mr. Chadwell might have retired to Arkansas from the postmark.  It was an expensive card by the tarnished gold foil lined envelope.  Unlike today where just the flap was lined the whole envelope was lined here.
